Welcome to Athens!

Olympiacos CFP v. Chelsea FC

Tuesday 19th February 2008. Kick Off 9.45pm. (Local time)

The match will be played at the Georgios Karaiskaki Stadium, Piraeus, Athens which is about 10km south-west of Athens city centre and about 32km from the new Athens International Airport. The stadium is well served by buses from the centres of Piraeus (about 2 km) and Athens. The Metro on Line 1 (the green line) terminates nearby at ‘Paleo Faliro’ station and trams also stop adjacent to the station. Taxis, all yellow, are very cheap and readily available.

The stadium has been in its present position since 1895, was completely re-built in 2003/4 and has a capacity of about 33,000. All Chelsea supporters will be located in section 126 and 127 accessed via gates 26 and 27. Non Ambulant disabled supporters will be in the adjacent section accessed via gate 28. The stadium will open at 6.45pm and you are advised to arrive at the stadium early. Allocated seating will apply and all seats are covered.

The tickets contain a bar code which gives automatic access through the turnstiles and therefore must be presented at the turnstile number shown on the ticket.

When purchasing your tickets through the Chelsea website, if you want to be given tickets together with friends, you must use the ‘Friends and Family’ ordering facility on the website. All tickets must be collected from the Box Office – no tickets will be sent out. The usual travel declaration must be completed and handed in. Chelsea supporters are strongly advised not to travel without tickets.

Spectators will be searched on arrival and all the usual items are prohibited – weapons, smoke bombs, fireworks, all flagpoles, (flags without poles and banners are allowed) No bottles are allowed in the stadium (even plastic ones) Anything that can be thrown is likely to be confiscated so you are advised to leave any gifts you have bought in your coach or hotel room or make other arrangements for their safekeeping. Any person attempting to enter the stadium whilst drunk will be arrested or refused entry and, as with all UEFA matches, alcohol is banned from the stadium. At the end of the match away supporters are held back for about 20 minutes.

The local currency is the Euro. Food and alcohol prices are reasonably priced.
